For universities with a fixed CAVE, visualization or XR lab, and no mobile unit yet · Southern University Mobile CAVE, presented with XR Jags

Your lab builds the training. Together we run it at more sites.

Many campuses run strong immersive labs that people must travel to. Southern University made its CAVE mobile, so discipline training can run where people are. Let’s learn from each other and reach more people together.

See it move

See it come apart.

The Mobile CAVE comes apart, then a 3D printer from the AM Lab breaks down part by part, and it all goes back together.

What you get

Six ways your lab’s discipline can reach more sites.

You keep your lab and your field. We add more sites. Nobody has to start over.

Content

Your scenarios at new sites

A scenario your team built for your discipline can run at sites across Louisiana, with your name on it. Each one is licensed with you first.

Know-how

What it takes to go mobile

Power, set-up time, staffing, weather, parking. We share what we learn running a mobile CAVE, with partners first.

Grants

Joint proposals

A fixed lab plus a mobile one makes a stronger multi-campus proposal. Six of our seven sub-projects are tied to a Southern University or CAAV program, and SP-07 is the student team that runs the Mobile CAVE.

Research

A shared network

Exploratory research (SP-04) is aligned with the CAAV National Visualization Network. Faculty and students can study learning outside the lab.

Reach

Co-hosted stops

We can hold a joint demo day near your campus, so people who never visit your lab can try immersive training in your field.

A path to your own unit

If you want a mobile unit of your own, we can walk you through how Southern University got here.

How it works with the Mobile CAVE

Lab to lab, in four steps.

  1. A 20-minute call, lab to labWhat do you run, who comes to you, and who never can?
  2. Compare notesContent, formats and hardware. We find one thing worth doing together.
  3. One pilotOne shared scenario, one co-hosted stop, or one joint proposal.
  4. Share findingsWe write up what worked and share it with you first.

Content sharing is agreed in writing, case by case.
